Paranormal experts claim the hotel is home to a gentleman’s spirit from the 1800s, whose silhouette often appears between 4 and 6 in the morning in the office area of the Club Level.

The Toftaholm Herrgård in Lagan, Sweden, an old manor house once owned by a wealthy baron, is apparently haunted by the ghost of a young man from the 14th century who was found hanging in room 324 after he was refused marriage to the Baron’s daughter.

The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California dates from 1888 and has one long-term resident in the form of a beautiful woman apparition who is reported to scratch and claw windows at night. It is rumoured to be the ghost of a young woman who was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head several days after checking in to the hotel in 1892.

‘Scotland’s Oldest Inhabited Castle’, Dalhousie Castle in Edinburgh, is a 13th-century fortress turned luxury hotel. It was once home to Lady Catherine, who is said to have locked herself in the top room of the castle and starved herself to death after her parents forbade her to see the young man she was in love with. There’s little chance of starvation at Dalhousie Castle these days due to the Dungeon Restaurant’s heavenly modern interpretation of classic Scottish dishes.
